Our Our Services

We love interesting questions and new challenges. Please get in touch to start a conversation about how we might be able to help.

  • Our team are highly experienced in workshop facilitation, Sea Country planning and Conservation Action Planning processes. We use these tools to help communities articulate their goals and preferences for the use, management, and protection of their natural resources.

We can assist with ecological and social data collation and analysis, spatial prioritisation, and the development of community-led proposals and plans.

We have expertise and experience in marine park design and implementation.

We can also assist with the development of operational plans, for example for Fisheries Rangers and marine monitoring programs.

  • We specialise in the design and implementation of ecological monitoring programs used to inform marine park efficacy and fisheries resource management. Our programs are tailored to provide scientifically robust assessments to detect change in ecological communities that are also cost effective. Community training and capacity building are central to our ethos and are integrated as core elements of our monitoring programs.

Our team can help with identifying research priorities, facilitating, designing and implementing research programs, and data analysis. We can also facilitate academic collaborations to fill scientific knowledge gaps and help bridge the gap between communities and the relevant scientific researchers, while maintaining research outputs that are relevant to the community and stakeholders involved.

We are experts in the implementation of benthic underwater visual surveys (seagrass, macroalgal, benthic invertebrates) and stereo-video surveys (stereo-Baited Remote Underwater Videos, stereo-Diver Operated Videos). Our team prides themselves on the ability to identify a suite of tropical finfish, invertebrates and macroalgal species on site, and this has been a valuable asset to our collaborators in the field.

  • Our team are highly skilled in using participatory mapping to help communities capture their spatial knowledge and communicate it to inform inclusive planning and decision-making.

We can also design and implement map-based questionnaires to collect information on place based uses, values, and management preferences.

We can help with spatial data collation and management to support Sea Country planning processes, the production of high-quality cartographic outputs, web maps and spatial storytelling.

We are always mindful of the potential sensitivity of place-based information, and are led by local protocols for collecting, storing, and sharing these data.

  • We support coastal communities to participate meaningfully in research, policy and planning dialogues and processes.

Our team can facilitate the communication of concepts, needs, and preferences across diverse stakeholders and knowledge systems.

We can summarise and synthesise research outputs to ensure that high quality, scientifically robust, and practical information is available to the right people at the right time, in an appropriate format.

We prioritise accessible language and clear, actionable findings that help our partners to make evidence-informed decisions.

We can also facilitate academic research collaborations and help to ensure that these are conducted in a culturally appropriate manner.

  • We provide fisheries and marine management policy advice to communities, NGOs, and government agencies.

We are dedicated to supporting Australia’s First Nations people to lead the management of their Sea Country and can help with the design and implementation of governance frameworks to achieve this.

Our team has decades of experience working with Traditional Owners in Australia and coastal communities across the Indo-Pacific, and can bring ideas and insights to meet new challenges.

  • At Sea Country Solutions we strongly believe in the power of storytelling. We collaborate closely with First Nations people and local communities to inspire, guide and motivate our contemporaries.

Through documentary filmmaking, speaking engagements, and print media, we partner with Traditional Custodians to create impactful narratives that celebrate the cultural heritage and environmental stewardship of Sea Country. These stories help to navigate the gap between knowledge systems and make meaningful two-way research and management more accessible to all.
